Ana Gonzaga

Ana Tereza Gonzaga was born in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil where she started to take ballet lessons. At the age of 15, she became full time student at The Paris Opera Ballet School.

After graduating she began her profesional career at the Ballet National de Nancy and Lorraine under the direction of Pierre Lacotte, where she became principal dancer perfoming classics as “The Swan Lake”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Giselle” among others and ballets by choreographers Roland Pétit, Balanchine or Hans Van Manen.

In 2001 she joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza under the direction of Nacho Duato, becoming in 2008 principal dancer.Pieces like " O Domina Nostra", "Gilded Golberg" were created for her. In her years at the company ,she was the opportunity to work with main choreographes as Jiri Kilyan,Mats Ekts,Ohad Naharin,William Forsythe and others.

In 2012 Ana Tereza was hired as ballet master in the São Paulo Companhia de Dança, Brazil where she stayed until 2013. Currently she is a guest teacher at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Madrid and one of the guest ballet master at the Compañia Nacional de Danza under the direction of José Carlos Martinez.
