Jaime Roque

Jaime Roque De La Cruz, is born in Havana, Cuba and studied at the Cuban National Ballet School in Havana.

In 1993 he joined the Cuban National Ballet, under the direction of Alicia Alonso.  Principal-Soloist (1996), he performed some of the leading roles in the classical Repertoire, Giselle, La fille mal gardée, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Cinderela, Coppelia...

In 1998 he joined Victor Ullate Ballet in Madrid, Spain  where he danced choreographies by Victor Ullate as well as choreographies by George Balanchine, Maurice Béjart, Rudi van Dantzig , Hans van Manen, Nils Christ, William Forsythe...

In 2004 he joined the Lyon Opera Ballet under the direction of Yorgos Loukos, where he worked with choreographers such as Russell Maliphant, Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Rachid Ouramdane, Odile Duboc, Angelin Preljocaj, Mathilde Monnier, Jiri Kylian,Jerôme Bel, Christian Rizzo, Philippe Découflé, Maguy Marin and also danced some works from Nacho Duato, Merce Cunningham etc.

Works as a freelance teacher : 

Lyon Opera Ballet, National Dance Center-Lyon, National Superior Music and Dance Conservatory in Lyon, Ballet A. Preljocaj, StaatsBallet Berlin (Nacho Duato), Gärtnerplatztheaters München-Munich/Germany, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, Slovenian National Ballet, Ballet Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Ballet Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Ballet Staatstheater Hannover, Semperoper Ballet de Dresden…

In 2010 he received his French state teaching diploma (Classical ballet teacher).

Former Ballet Master with the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden.

He’s currently working as Ballet Master with the Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf.
