María López García

Teacher at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza “María de Ávila” in Madrid, teaching the “Analysis and Practice of Classical Dance Repertoire” and “Classical Dance Technique”. She began her studies in Burgos, during which time she joined the Ballet Clásico de Burgos. She finished her training as a dancer, and later as a teacher, with Ana Lázaro, joining her company Ballet Concierto. She furthered her studies and knowledge with both teachers María de Ávila in Zaragoza and Carmina Ocaña in Madrid. She also received classes from other great international masters. She began her pedagogical work after a serious injury to both knees, a profession to which she has dedicated herself completely since then. Graduated in Dance, specialising in Classical Dance Pedagogy, from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza “María de Ávila” in Madrid, receiving the Premio Extraordinario Fin de Carrera. Master’s Degree in Pedagogical and Didactic Training from the University of Murcia. Master in Cultural Management: Music, Theatre and Dance by the Complutense University of Madrid. Master’s Degree in Performing Arts from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid. Technical Engineer in Public Works.   Scholarship holder at Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg (Russia) by the Ministry of Education and Science with the project “Study of the Vaganova School as the maximum current exponent of Russian Classical Dance work”. With a wide teaching experience, she has had a direct relationship until 2016 with the “Escuela de Ballet Carmina Ocaña y Pablo Savoye”, collaborating as ballet master for professional dancers (Compañía Nacional de Danza, Oklahoma City Ballet, Companhia Nacional de Bailado, Ballett Vorpommern, Vaganova Ballet Academy, Olomouc Dance Company…) and obtaining great results in Dance competitions. For more than ten years she has been part of the federated teams of rhythmic gymnastics and artistic gymnastics for men and women of the city of Burgos as head and teacher of classical dance, achieving important positions in national competitions and helping to train great gymnasts at national and international level. Founder of the “Classical Dance Classroom” of the University of Burgos. Currently, she combines her teaching work at the CSDMA with freelance work helping young dancers in their training period and active professionals dancers (Compañía Nacional de Danza, Ballet Nacional de España, Nuremberg Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet, Varna Opera Theatre, Tanzcompany Innsbruck, Ballet Vorpommern, Balletto del Sud, The Bayerisches Staatsballett…). Guest teacher in several Galas and member of juries for national competition, she has given classes, workshops and conferences in different Spanish Conservatories (Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Alicante, Conservatorio de Danza de Murcia, Conservatorio Profesional de Danza “Fortea” de Madrid, Conservatorio de Danza de Cáceres…), private academies and Spanish universities, among other institutions. Member of the “International Dance Council CID UNESCO”.
